Strands consists of two ideas, opposite from each other in overall character. One is brittle, dry and percussive; the other is fragile, sustained and thin. The two strands start separately, and gradually overlap, eventually moving together fleetingly, to then unravel again and move apart.

'Though one may be overpowered,

two can defend themselves.

A cord with three strands is not quickly broken.'

Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NIV)
